Sound Lineage for Collaborative Music Creation

NOiSE turns sound into something people can build on: composable, remixable, attributable, and economically traceable.

Abstract

NOiSE is a music platform and lineage protocol for uploading, remixing, collaborating on, and tracking sound as it evolves. Each uploaded sound becomes a node in a creative graph. Derivatives link back to their sources. Attribution is preserved by default. Support and royalty flows can be distributed across contributors and upstream creators through transparent lineage rules.

The Problem

Music creation is increasingly collaborative and remix-native, but most platforms still treat uploads as isolated files. Samples spread without reliable attribution. Collaboration happens across DMs, drives, and fragmented tools. Splits are often negotiated after the creative work is already moving. Fans can support the final output, but upstream contributors rarely participate in downstream value.

The NOiSE Approach

NOiSE treats sound as a composable object. A sound can be uploaded, discovered, reused, remixed, traced, supported, and rewarded across its full lineage. The system records not only the file, but the relationship between works: what came first, what was derived, who contributed, and how value should move when a work earns.

Core idea: every sound is a node; every remix creates a relationship; every relationship can preserve attribution and route value upstream.

Sound uploads

Artists upload sounds with metadata including genre, category, BPM, key, instruments, tags, location, image, waveform data, and audio URL.

Mash Room

A browser-based collaboration studio for arranging sounds, adjusting clips, effects, volume, pan, BPM, quantization, comments, and export flows.

Lineage graph

Visual exploration of origins, derivatives, co-authors, and relationship types across the creative graph.

Competitions

Remix contests, beat battles, vocal challenges, sponsored rewards, voting windows, and submissions.

Fan engagement

Discovery, likes, comments, favorites, follows, support flows, voting, and off-chain engagement points.

Wallets and claims

Solana wallet connection, multi-wallet support, pending royalty claims, and settlement records.

Lineage Protocol

The protocol anchors creative identity and parentage. Originals are registered as root Sound Nodes. Derivatives declare one or more parents. Co-authored works can remain unfinalized until required contributors approve authorship. Content hashes bind on-chain identity to an audio artifact, while external IDs connect protocol state to the application database.

Economic Design

NOiSE separates settlement, engagement, and future incentive layers. Lineage settlement centers on USDC support and claims. Engagement points are off-chain and policy-versioned. Token-based rewards can extend the system as the ecosystem matures.

Royalty Cascade

When a sound earns, the current node keeps the creator pool and up to 30% can flow upstream to parent nodes. Each parent applies the same rule recursively, bounded by depth and dust thresholds for practical settlement. Attribution remains visible even when economic propagation stops.

Architecture

NOiSE combines a modern web application with decentralized protocol infrastructure to deliver a collaborative music experience. Interactive creation, collaboration, media storage, and application state are managed off-chain for performance and usability, while creative lineage, authorship, and value distribution are recorded on Solana to provide transparent, verifiable ownership and attribution.

The platform consists of:

  • Web Application — A browser-based experience for discovering music, collaborating in the Mash Room, publishing creations, and supporting other artists.
  • Application Services — Off-chain services that manage user accounts, metadata, notifications, search, background processing, and real-time collaboration.
  • Media Storage — Secure storage for audio assets and associated metadata, with support for content-addressable references as the protocol evolves.
  • Protocol Layer — The NOiSE Lineage Protocol on Solana records creative lineage, collaborative authorship, support transactions, and royalty claims, forming the immutable foundation of the ecosystem.
  • Creative Engine — Browser-based audio tooling and interactive lineage visualization enable creators to collaborate, remix, and explore the relationships between works.

This architecture allows NOiSE to provide the responsiveness and user experience expected from modern creative software while preserving transparent, on-chain attribution and value flow where it matters most.
